Guidelines

Federal agencies are making hundreds of grant opportunities available under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and more are being created on a regular basis. As we track all of the Recovery Act activity taking place in Washington, the Recovery Team would like to know more about your grant applications for Recovery Act funds.

If you are writing, or plan to write, an application to receive federal recovery funding from a competitive grant, please do the following:

If you are a STATE agency:

  • Notify the Governor’s Economic Recovery Team about your intent to apply for a federal competitive grant.

  • Provide a copy of the Request for Proposal and the application deadline.

  • Identify the partners you are including in the grant proposal.

  • Indicate whether you are seeking a letter of endorsement from the Governor (see the Governor’s Endorsement Letter checklist) for a federal competitive grant opportunity.

  • Notify us when you receive an award to coordinate an official announcement (press release, event, etc).

If you are an entity OTHER than a state agency:

  • Notify your regular state agency contact with whom you typically interact.

  • If you don’t have a state agency affiliation, contact the Governor’s Economic Recovery Team about your intent to apply for a federal competitive grant.

  • Let us know how we can help.

  • Notify us when you receive an award to coordinate an official announcement (press release, event, etc).

How we will help

In addition to tracking Recovery Act funding coming into Washington, the Economic Recovery Team can also help applicants develop the best grant request possible. We:

  • Help arrange meetings, identify partners and suggest proposal development processes.

  • Identify whether your proposal fits in with the Governor’s overall economic recovery strategy.

  • May know of additional grant opportunities for you to pursue.

  • Provide you with information and training on managing risk, tracking funds and measuring performance.
